I am Alex Berry, a photographer who believes passionately in capturing and recording the images of the real Andalucia... ...images which are all too quickly disappearing...and once gone, they never return..... The old doors, windows, corners, ruins. all the images we love about this area and the very things which say SPAIN to us and are part of the reason why we choose to be here, BUT these same images are soon rejected once the march of 'progress' takes over. I try to capture the 'feel', the essence of the area, the hidden bits tucked away, round the corner. ...(these can be found even in the cities, the back streets where neighbours used to be able to touch - high above the pavements) The serenity to be found in old wood, old ironwork, old brickwork even the faces of old people. The rough and ragged gentleness that is Spain. I use my camera and 'eye' in the same way when I visit Stoke-on-Trent, where I was born. This city is probably better known as The Potteries and had a world-wide reputation for the production of fine bone china and ceramics. Alas, the city is now like an old lady who has seen better days and looks rather down at heel and I return to try and capture the images of my childhood before they too disappear.
Morocco is another country close to my heart. With its colours, hidden secrets and untidiness, it has added another element to my photography.
It could easily be said that I photograph nothing and make it interesting! Contact details: Alex Berry Tel No: 952539357 or mobile 617111115 or email abizzyb@hotmail.com |
